Job Summary:
The Retail Associate plays a vital role in the customer service experience at the meat processing plant's retail outlet. This position involves assisting customers, preparing sandwiches, maintaining product displays, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment. The Retail Associate will work closely with the team to provide high-quality products and exceptional service.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Levels I through II: None
  • Level III: May review, mentor, or oversee the work of other department employees

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Greet customers warmly and assist them with inquiries about products, pricing, and specials
  • Provide recommendations based on customer preferences and dietary needs
  • Process customer transactions efficiently using point-of-sale (POS) systems
  • Prepare a variety of sandwiches and deli items following company recipes and presentation standards
  • Stock and display meat products, sandwiches, and related items in a visually appealing manner
  • Assist in inventory management by tracking product levels and notifying management of restocking needs
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and company policies to ensure a safe and clean environment
  • Follow proper sanitation practices, including handwashing and equipment cleaning
  • Promote special offers and new products to customers to increase sales
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong culinary skills with a passion for creating delicious dishes
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer satisfaction

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training or related field preferred
  • Previous experience in food production, catering, or food trailer operations is a strong asset
  • Experience in sandwich preparation or working in a deli is a plus

Physical Requirements:
  • Able to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Able to lift up to 20lbs at a time
  • Work is performed in a retail environment within a meat processing plant, which may involve exposure to cold temperatures and raw meat products.
