Harvest Floor Specialist

JOB PURPOSE: The employee in this position is responsible for performing assigned tasks related to Kill Floor operations. Kinikin Craft Butchers and Processing is a USDA-certified processing operation and retail store.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Slaughter, skin and eviscerate animals as scheduled
• Wash, weigh and label carcasses
• Ensure kill floor cleanliness, following all sanitation procedures
• Maintain equipment in proper working order
• Maintain records with meticulous accuracy
• Properly feed, maintain, and care for animals scheduled for slaughter
• Maintain cleanliness and maintenance in the barn and surrounding area
• Understand and follow humane slaughter and animal welfare procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned by management, which can be as varied as facility and ground maintenance, cleaning and sanitation tasks, meat packing, and simple meat cutting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 1-3 years of related experience preferable. Must be 18 years of age.
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented atmosphere. Reliability is extremely important.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Understand and adhere to food safety (HACCP) policies and procedures, SSOPs, and all other food safety measures
• Adhere to company safety policies and procedures
• Ability to arrive at work on time and work dependably throughout the shift
• Ability to speak, write, and follow written work assignments in English

Skills and Physical Requirements

• Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination
• Must be physically fit, with the ability to lift/maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to 100 lbs.
• Must be able to operate kill floor and meat processing equipment including scales, knives, power saws, meat tenderizers, meat slicers, grinders, and other equipment
• Ability to stand for long periods of time, with frequent bending, twisting, and turning
• Ability to manage livestock in a patient, humane, and caring manner
• Friendly and courteous, always maintaining composure when interacting with customers, co-workers, and regulatory personnel
• Self-directed, self-motivated, reliable, and willing to learn

Compensation Information:

Pay range is $17/hr. - $22/hr.
